Considered a travel souvenir in the mid-1800s, this Lava and Agate Cameo Bracelet was a memento purchased while visiting Pompeii in Italy during the age of Grand Tours. Made for the Victorian tourist trade, the bracelet displays 5 high-relief cameos in different shades of lava or agate with a matte finish. The cameos represent 5 Roman ladies from antiquity and are set in frames of 14k yellow gold. They measure 1.25 inches in height and are exceptionally carved. The bracelet measures 7.50 inches long and the cameos are linked with Florentine engraved connectors that have been hand-engraved with a flower detail. The clasp is a concealed flat box clasp with 2 figure eight safety clasps and the bracelet comes with the original box.
